Here's a nice battery holder that holds 4 AA batteries, and can easily be made into a nice 3-AA holder for your pinball's MPU. Simply put a wire (for chargeable batteries) or a diode (for non-chargeable batteries) in the first battery position, then hook it up to your MPU.
